Ivory lacquer edged in gold and silver leaf ties the room together — a sweeping curved wardrobe, two round hand-painted nightstands and a glass-topped dressing table with its own crested mirror and stool. At the centre the carved double bed spreads a shell-fan headboard pleated in champagne silk over a tasselled burgundy velvet medallion, its footboard scrolling away in gilded carving, with a sheer canopy drifting overhead. Every panel is hand-finished, so the set rewards a slow, up-close look as much as a first glance.
